The Mistress – Tiffany Reisz

The final book in The Original Sinners Series – The Red Years.

There’s punishment-and then there’s vengeance.

Nora Sutherlin is being held, bound and naked. Under different circumstances, she would enjoy the situation immensely, but her captor isn’t interested in play. Or pity.

As the reality of her impending peril unfolds, Nora becomes Scheherazade, buying each hour of her life with stories-sensual tales of Søren, Kingsley and Wesley, each of whom has tempted and tested and tortured her in his own way. This, Nora realizes, is her life: nothing so simple, so vanilla, as a mere love triangle for her. It’s a knot in a silken cord, a tangled mass of longings of the body and the heart and the mind. And it may unravel at any moment.

But in Nora’s world, no one is ever truly powerless-a cadre of her friends, protectors and lovers stands ready to do anything to save her, even when the only certainty seems to be sacrifice and heartbreak….(blurb taken from http://www.goodreads.com)

The Mistress – Tiffany Reisz, she’s always a safe bet. I don’t mean her books are safe. Far from it. What I mean, is it’s always guaranteed to get a fabulous read from her books. I admit to being wary part way through this book. I even thought, for a few chapters, that Ms. Reisz had done the unthinkable, and had completely ruined the Original Sinners Series. So much so, that it did take me quite a while to get in to the book, and understand the story. I had to put it down, and pick it up a few times first, but….when I finally did get there, ooooh for the love of Soren, was it worth it!
I want to say I feel bad for Wesley, but I don’t, you’ll see what I mean. Neither Nora or he were worthy of each other.

I think the reason I found this one, compared to all of her others, so much more difficult, is because there’s just so much going on. With the back story, the story happening now, what’s happened in the past, bringing it all together from the other books etc. It all makes perfect sense by the time you get about 1/3 of the way through, or at least that’s what I found.

Anyhoo, after all the palarva of getting into it, it was a swift read from there on. Grace was something of a miracle character, and not what I expected at all. Wesley was as big a drip as ever, but obviously some people do like big cuddly, romantic types. I’m not belittling that, it’s just not my thing. I was TERRIFIED for Nora. Wow, the stories, they’re amazing, and catch you up on all the history from young Soren, meeting Kingsley, meeting Nora, present day and everything in between. It truly is awesome.

Beneath This Man – Jodi Ellen Malpas

Jesse Ward drowned her with his intensity and blindsided her with his passion, but he kept her away from his dark secrets and broken soul. Leaving him was the only way Ava O’Shea could survive. She should have known that Jesse Ward is impossible to escape–and now he’s back in her life, determined to remind her of the sensual pleasures they had shared. Ava is equally determined to get at the truth beneath this man’s steely exterior. That means letting herself get close to the Lord of the Manor once more. And it’s exactly where Jesse wants her–within touching distanc

Jesse and Ava, the product of Jodi Ellen Malpas’ imagination, and wow, what an imagination it it is. The intense relationship they share is defiantly obsession and borders on abusive, but we can talk about that later 🙂 blurb taken from http://www.goodreads.com

At the end of This Man Ava has left Jesse, who is very drunk and swearing at her, in his flat/apartment. Never to return. We start this book with Ava riding the break up wave, with all it’s lovely ups and downs, like bad hair and make up, snivelling nose and snappy temper. Sam gets them back together….I’m not a blogger who likes to give spoilers out, sorry….So our dear handsome Jesse has a dark secret, and it’s alcohol. Only he’s gonna spend the rest of the book, refusing to admit it. There’s a bit more drama with Sarah, an amazing bit at a dinner party, woohoo, go Ava, and also I did feel very sorry for her afterwards. Really, is it ever gonna be cleared up, as to wether or not Jesse and Kate got it on that night?
Most of the way through, Ava keeps putting off calling her parents, as she doesn’t want to deal with the fallout from telling them she’s not only dating again so soon, but she’s also dating someone older than her. Something quite big happens, and unknown to Ava, she walks into Lusso to find her parents there.

There are two trains of thought on this book, on Jesse and Ava’s relationship. The first, and most widely believed, is that they are just so in love and so messed up that it’s turned into an obsession based relationship. They can’t live with, or without each other any more.
The second is that if you look at it bit by bit, Jesse is actually quite mentally and physically abusive to Ava. He’s forever pushing for whatever he wants, and if he doesn’t get it, he either convinces her via sex, getting drunk or does it anyway. Mentally, although he says all these nice things to her, he lets everyone else, especially Sarah have a go at her. He stalks her incessantly, calls the bars she’s at when she’s out, so he knows where she is, how much she’s drinking, and who she’s talking too ! He even decides on the clothes he likes her to wear !

Personally, I give this 4 out of 5 stars, because I can see the elements in this, that I wouldn’t want my daughter to read, and pick up as a good relationship basis. I love romantic and erotica. This is one hell of an awesome book, but there’s just a few tiny bits, that made me really dislike Jesse.

Jodi Ellen Malpas had This Man out before this, and This Man Confessed is released 5th December 2013 http://www.amazon.co.uk

Snow Storm – Lisa Gillis

Cover

SNOW STORMS – Lisa Gillis
With this being Yuletide, it is time for a Christmas Book Release and Promotion. The Fantabulous Lisa Gillis. This is book #3 in the Snow Series, with Jack and Marissa as your title characters.

Book 1 – Jack Who? : Perfect Storms – Marissa is a craps dealer, and in one quick second that she never wants to remember, her life turns to crap. Her best friend convinces her that the cure for a breakup is a hookup, and reluctantly, she heeds this advice.

However, Jack (what was his name again?) is not the average girl’s revenge sex.

Jack is a celebrity in his niche of the music world. Women throw themselves at him, toss their lingerie on the stage, and scream his name. Marissa has no idea of his public identity, and while she does not initially throw herself at him, she does go on to toss aside her lingerie and ultimately scream his name.

Five minutes after parting, Marissa holds no illusions about seeing him again, but does vow a new outlook on her life and herself.

Five days later, they exchange a very short text.

Five months later, Jack astounds her with an invitation to Los Angeles. Although Jack is now a star in her very non rock star fantasies, Marissa is concealing a huge secret that prevents her from accepting.

Five years later, the secret comes out and despite the conflicting emotions each feels towards the another, they must meld their two worlds together. Blurb from https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/18402055-jack-who

Book 2 – Wuthering Jack Storm : Falling in love with Jack was easy, but there is nothing easy about staying in love with this rock star while settling into a new life in Los Angeles.

The epic story of Jack and Marissa continues.

Marissa and Tristan in his life changed his outlook. Jack felt needed. He welcomed the responsibility of a family. He embraced the love and companionship. Quickly, he whisked his son and the intriguing woman he had never forgotten to his home in LA.

To Marissa, her future seemed as mysterious as dusk’s shimmering shadows beneath the surface of the luxurious guitar shaped pool. There was no doubt this could be her dream house, her dream life with the man she loved. Not so dreamy was all that she was beginning to see packaged with him.

The crazy hours of a very active life. The garbage behind the glam. Mostly, a moody and presumptuous rock star whose public persona is opposite of the sweet celebrity she fell for. Blurb from https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/18402069-weathering-jack-storm

Gabriel’s Rapture (Gabriel’s Inferno #2)
by Sylvain Reynard (Goodreads Author)
Professor Gabriel Emerson has embarked on a passionate, yet clandestine affair with his former Professor Gabriel Emerson has embarked on a passionate, yet clandestine affair with his former student, Julia Mitchell. Sequestered on a romantic holiday in Italy, he tutors her in the sensual delights of the body and the raptures of sex. But when they return, their happiness is threatened by conspiring students, academic politics, and a jealous ex-lover. When Gabriel is confronted by the university administration, will he succumb to Dante’s fate? Or will he fight to keep Julia, his Beatrice, forever? In Gabriel’s Rapture, the brilliant sequel to the wildly successful debut novel, Gabriel’s Inferno, Sylvain Reynard weaves an exquisite love story that will touch the reader’s mind, body, and soul, forever.
WOW!! Did these books take me by surprise. I was recommended these books by a friend. They’re not my usual type of books. These are romance, not fantasy, or erotica, but they totally blew my mind, and I can honestly say, I can’t wait until the next one is out, Gabriel’s Redemption.
Gabriel is a University Professor, and Julia is his student, what Gabriel doesn’t know is that they have met before, 10 years before, and he’s about to remember. Then the fun starts. Imagine the stuffy, style English Literature/Arts Prof, all up his own ass, and yep, that’s him. Then imagine a shy, run of the mill, don’t look at me girl, Julianne. There’s Paul, the love interest Jock, and Christa the shameless whore. There’s a whole lot of surprises left in store, or storyline.
All in all, it’s a fabulous package. Sylvain Reynard has done an amazing job with them. As well as being a lovely enough person to take time out of their busy schedule to sign e books through http://www.authorgraph.com . I got mine a couple of weeks back, and cherish it. Thank you !

5 / 5 Hot Stars (I love my Gabriel)
